The Renato Grandi Foundation assumes the totality of the project, which includes:

• A pediatric outpatient clinic.
• A cardiology diagnostic center.
• Five inpatient wards for cardiac complications or other serious illnesses.
• The start-up and operation of the Family House.

Project cost: 512,348.42 euros, including the photovoltaic system.

Pediatrics degrees of 3 physicians from Bissau (2016-2017-2018).

Total cost in Cuba: 165,068.28 euros for the three doctors who became pediatricians.

Postgraduate, year 2019: €12,800.00 for the three pediatricians.

Considering the success of the first pediatric center (Renato Grandi Pediatric Service and Cardiology Center), the Foundation decided to create a new Pediatric Outpatient Center in Bissau, with the objective of guaranteeing quality pediatric care for a population of approximately 20,000-30,000 children per year.

To this end, the Foundation financed the training in Cuba of three Guinean doctors for three years, who obtained their degree in pediatrics and are currently working with Dr. Augusto Bidonga.

The new structure has, in addition to the consultation rooms for physicians, a diagnostic area equipped with radiology, ultrasound and echocardiography, eight beds for outpatient therapy and a section for prenatal diagnosis. The new center has an exclusively outpatient function, with the intention of working in close collaboration with the existing structures, in particular with the Simão Mendes National Hospital and some twenty health centers, considered “contact points” distributed in the different areas of the city.

The construction of the Renato Grandi Pediatric Center was completed and inaugurated on February 15, 2020 in the presence of the Prime Minister and the Minister of Health.

Total cost of the project: 904,117.80 euros assumed directly by the FRG, 547,166.60 euros for the purchase of material in Italy and 233,715.60 euros advanced by ACRA, for a total of 1,685,000.00 euros, plus 19,820.00 euros for a new management program.

Expansion work began in 2022, converting it into a 44-bed pediatric hospital in 2024. Total cost of expansion: 875,761.66 euros.

In 2024, the hospital is self-financed with the proceeds from the previous four years. The same applies to the first quarter of 2025. It will be decided together with Bissau officials how to support the 2025 budget, which amounts to €430,000, as FRAG does not currently have the funds to finance it in full.
