20km of Brussels: the FRAG team runs for the children of Guinea-Bissau

Among the 50,000 participants who ran the 20 km of Brussels yesterday, 10 people did so with the Renato Foundation team and Armando Grandi for a very special charitable cause: to help cure children with heart disease in our Renato Grandi Pediatric Hospital in Guinea-Bissau, one of the poorest countries in the world.

Participating in the 20 km of Brussels has not only contributed to giving visibility to the Foundation among the sports community and the general public, but has also promoted the mobilization of family, friends and collaborators to raise funds for this project.

Thanks to this initiative , 1,531.16 euros have been raised, which will allow the replacement of essential medical equipment, such as obsolete stethoscopes, infusion pumps and otoscopes, a crucial need for the hospital’s pediatric consultations.

This race has not only had a positive impact on the physical well-being of those who joined the team, but also a lasting impact on the lives of many children in one of Africa’s countries with the highest infant mortality rate.

We want to sincerely thank all the runners for their enthusiasm, their dedication, their commitment to the cause and their smiles for the children most in need. Every step counts for our little hearts and shows that, together, we can go further.

We want to especially congratulate Rodrigo Pérez Grandi, who obtained the best time of the team. At 41 years old, he crossed the finish line in 1 hour and 47 minutes, achieving an excellent classification and demonstrating great physical preparation.

I thank the Renato and Armando Grandi Foundation for allowing me to run the most popular race in Brussels, the 20km, and thus contributing to modestly improving the living conditions of children in Guinea-Bissau. They are the real champions! Rodrigo Pérez Grandi

We are also grateful to our institutional sponsor, the Delegation of the European Union in Guinea-Bissau, which recently visited the Renato Grandi Paediatric Centre and was highly impressed by the quality of the medical care and infrastructure.

We hope to run together again very soon for children’s health in Guinea-Bissau.
